Participant's Enquiries

  • For Office Entry registration, how should Section 6 (Declaration and Undertaking) be completed?
    For Office Entry registration, only one Section 6 is required for Team Leader (HKIA member) on behalf of the office. Other individual team members are also required to sign Section 6.
  • Are e-signatures acceptable for overseas team members?
    E-signatures are acceptable for the purpose of registration but the participant is required to supplement the original signed Annex 1- Entry Form when submitting the Entry in August.
  • Regarding the entry form, it requests the first 4 digits of the HKID number; should this include the alphabet as well?
    The first 4 digits of the HKID number do not include the alphabet; please provide only the numerical digits.
  • Could you kindly confirm whether the site area used for GFA calculation includes the entire purple zone, including the consolidated road area under each MRCP scenario?
    Yes
  • The hatched area is zoned as Open Space under current OZP, are we required to retain this exact Open Space zoning and area under the MRCP 0/– scenario in our proposal? If not, are we allowed to propose a re-demarcation of the Open Space zoning with similar area within the development node?
    The MRCP +/0/- scenarios require the provision of Open Space not less than 30% of the site area of the Development Node. The demarcation of Open Space does not require to follow the Open Space Zoning under the current OZP.
  • Is the 6 + 6 plot ratio (MRCP+ scenario) figure inclusive of transferred plot ratio from sending sites, or should that be added on top of the 6 + 6 figure?
    The plot ratio figures under each MRCP scenario do not include the “transferrable GFA” from sending sites. A higher plot ratio may be adopted in case Transfer of Plot Ratio is applied.
  • Please advise if "scale not less than 1:5000" means a plan to be "not less detailed than 1:5000", say, a 1:3000 master layout plan is acceptable?
    Scale not less than 1:5000 means the scale can be larger (say, 1:3000) but not smaller (say, 1:10,000).
  • Please advise if "scale not more than 1:1000" means plans, elevations and sections to be "not more detailed than 1:1000", say, a section of 1:1500 is acceptable?
    Scale not more than 1:1000 means the scale of plans, elevations and sections can be smaller (say, 1:1500) but not larger (say,1:500).
  • For the required four panels, should we prepare drawings for the front side only, or for both the front and back sides?
    The drawing should be on the Front side and the back side shall show your confidential registration number and page number as specified under Clause 14 of the Competition Document.
  • Any language requirement for A1 panels? i.e. only English? Or require both Chinese and English?
    For language requirements, please refer to Clause 24 (Language and Time) of the Competition Document: “Except otherwise specified therein, Entries shall be in English. Participants are reminded that the explanatory statement required under clause 14 of this Competition Document shall be submitted in both English and Traditional Chinese.”
  • Should we incorporate propose DN as something concrete in our designs? Or can we suggest alternatives to the propose DN?
    Design proposals should demonstrate how the Competition Sites connect and integrate with the Development Nodes and how to address the criteria as stipulated in the Design Guidelines (Annex 4 of the Competition Document). As required in Deliverables (Clause 14(3)4c), participants should provide in the Design Report the proposed new ideas or deviations from recommendations of YMDS with justifications/ explanations.
  • GIC doesn’t count area. Then in that case what governs its height? Only the height limit in OZP?
    The participants should follow the building height of YMDS recommendations. As required in Deliverables (Clause 14(3)4c), participants should provide in the Design Report the proposed new ideas or deviations from recommendations of YMDS with justifications/ explanations.
  • The boundary we marked and the data provided is for data sharing purpose, we can modify our boundary upon final submission.
    Yes. Participants are not restricted to modify site area for the final submission.

Registration

  • Is this Competition open to non-professional?
    Apart from the requirement that the Team Leader should be a full or fellow member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), this Competition is open to professionals from related disciplines, graduates and students from universities or post-secondary colleges in Hong Kong, Mainland and Overseas.
  • Can I join the Competition if I am an architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, planning or Urban Design student, or a student/associate/affiliated member of the related professional institutes?
    You can join the competition if you team up with a full or fellow member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), who will be the Team Leader of your team.
  • Do all members of a collaborative entry have to be registered professionals or members of a professional institute of architects, engineers, landscape architects, planners or urban designers, or only the Team Leader?
    The Team Leader shall be a full or fellow member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), while other team members can be HKIA members, professionals from related disciplines, graduates and students from universities or post-secondary colleges in Hong Kong, Mainland and Overseas.
  • Is there any competition fee?
    There is no competition fee to enter and participate for this Competition.
  • Should I expect a confirmation that my registration has been accepted?
    Upon successful registration (i.e. submission of hard copy of Registration Form), a Confidential Registration Number will be issued within two days. Participants are reminded to ensure their compliance with eligibility as outlined in the Competition Document, in particular clause 11.
  • After the Registration deadline, can we change the members of our Group?
    Any changes to the composition of members for a Group/Collaborative Entry will not be accepted.
  • How to register for the competition?
    Interested parties shall first register for the Competition via the online registration system at the Competition Website and submit the hard copy of the Entry Form to the Professional Advisor before 22 July 2025 05:00 p.m.
  • Can I participate in the Competition for both site areas?
    Yes, you can join the Competition for both site areas, which is stipulated in Clause 11 of the Competition Documents. In this circumstance, your team are required to submit two set of deliverables as per Clause 14 of the Competition Document (i.e. one set for each site area). You are also required to submit two sets of Registration Form (i.e. one set for each site area) and your Entries will be treated as two separate Entries with two sets of Confidential Registration Number. Your attention is also drawn to Clause 11 of the Competition Document that only one Entry will be permitted from each successfully registered Team Leader for each site area. However, there will be no limit for team members.

Entry Submission

  • My team is planning to submit other materials such as 3D-Animation and Physical Model as supplementary information in addition to the foam board panels required, will those submissions be disregarded if we do so?
    Submission of deliverables other than those specified requirements under Clause 14 of the Competition Document will be disregarded.
  • Can I implant a small LCD panel for displaying 3D-animations or other renderings ? Will I be disregarded?
    Submission of deliverables other than those specified requirements under Clause 14 of the Competition Document will be disregarded.
  • We would like to know if the post stamp can be proof of the submission being submitted before the stipulated deadline?
    No, participants are reminded that the submission must reach the address stipulated in Clause 7 of this Competition Document before 5:00 p.m., 29 August 2025 (Hong Kong Time). Submissions will STRICTLY be rejected, irrespective of whether the delay was solely caused by your chosen courier or postal service provider.
  • Fearing that our submission may not be able to arrive during the submission period (27 August 2025 – 29 August 2025) due to any logistics problems, can we send the Entry submission earlier than the stipulated period?
    We will only accept Entry submissions within the time stipulated in Clause 7 of this Competition Document. Please liaise with your mail service provider to ensure the submission will arrive at the designated addresses within the stipulated time interval.

Ineligibility

  • If the boss of my company is a member listed in Annex 6 of this Competition Document, can I participate in this Competition?
    If you and your team members have not been involved in organizing this Competition, you can participate in your own capacity or in your company’s capacity if you have the necessary authorization to do so. If in doubt, you are advised to complete the declaration in the online registration to declare any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest cases for the Professional Advisor’s consideration.
  • My father is a member listed in Annex 6 of this Competition Document, can I participate in this Competition?
    No. As stated in Clause 12 of this Competition Document, immediate family members of any member listed in Annex 6 are prohibited from participating in this Competition.
  • My family member is an employee of the Competition Organizer. However, he has not been involved with the preparation or organization of the Competition. Can I participate in this Competition?
    Yes. If your immediate family member has not been involved with the preparation or organization of the Competition, you shall be eligible to participate in this Competition. Please refer to Clause 12 of the Competition Document for more details.
  • I co-own a company with one of the Jury member, can I participate in this Competition?
    No. As stated in Clause 12 of this Competition Document, business partners of any member listed in Annex 6 are prohibited from participating in this Competition.
  • I was a student of a member listed in Annex 6 of this Competition Document, can I participate in this Competition?
    Yes, provided that there are no personal interest or financial interest between yourself and the members listed in Annex 6. If in doubt, you are advised to complete the declaration in the online registration to declare any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest cases for the Professional Advisor’s consideration.
  • I am an employee of one of the consultant firms involved in the District Study for Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok project. Can I participate in the Competition?
    You may participate in the Competition provided that you have not been involved in the District Study for Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok project in any capacity, and you have made the required declaration and undertaking in accordance with Annex 1 of the Competition Document. Additionally, Members of the District Study for Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok (YMDS) project team, including consultants of the YMDS, are not eligible to participate or assist a participant directly or indirectly. The Professional Advisor reserves the right to disqualify the Entry for such non-compliance. If in doubt, you are advised to complete the declaration in the online registration to declare any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest cases for the Professional Advisor’s consideration.
